This recruitment through Government Jobz aims to build an employment list for current and future needs. As an Extra Help employee, you provide vital support across various County departments. Note that these roles are limited to 1,559 hours per fiscal year and do not include traditional benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance workers perform a wide range of semi-skilled and skilled tasks to keep County facilities running smoothly. Your daily duties may include:

• Repairing and servicing HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems.
• Executing electrical wiring installations and fixture repairs.
• Performing plumbing tasks, including cutting and threading pipes and clearing drainage systems.
• Masonry work such as laying cement, bricks, and building forms for walkways or curbs.
• Using precision tools like calipers and micrometers for mechanical repairs.
• Constructing or repairing partitions, shelving, doors, and roofs.
• Utilizing computer software to track work orders and requisition materials.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this position found on Government Jobz, candidates must possess:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Two years of increasing responsibility in mechanical equipment repair or building construction trades.
• Skills: Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals, use power tools (drill presses, saws, grinders), and apply basic math for precision measurements.
• License: A valid California driver’s license.

Employment Conditions

Before being hired for these Government Jobz, selected candidates must pass a drug and alcohol screening and a law enforcement background investigation by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department. Some assignments may also require a physical exam to ensure fitness for duty.
