Job Description & Trainee Duties
This is a trainee role where you will receive both classroom and on-the-job training. According to Government Jobz, you will learn firefighting theories, land/sea rescue techniques, and emergency medical procedures. Duties include participating in drills, maintaining equipment, and performing salvage work after fires are controlled.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- License: Valid State of Hawaii Type 3 motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Physical Fitness: Must meet health and agility standards for “Fire Rescue” assignments.
- Certifications: Ability to obtain DOT Medical, First Responder, and CPR certificates during probation.
- Skills: Ability to swim, follow complex instructions, and work under hazardous conditions.
Examination Details
This recruitment involves a Written Examination (100%) scheduled for Saturday, March 14, 2026. Testing is only held within Maui County (Maui, Molokai, and Lanai). Government Jobz notes that qualified applicants will receive an email to self-schedule their exam time and location.
