Public Defender Interviewers serve as the initial point of contact for defense cases. Typical duties include:

• Conducting client interviews to gather details regarding arrests and charged offenses.
• Analyzing and evaluating facts to help build a comprehensive defense case.
• Determining potential legal conflicts of interest between parties.
• Advising clients on their legal rights and responsibilities during the interview.
• Communicating findings clearly to management and attorneys.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for this recruitment through Government Jobz, you should have:

• Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) supplemented by coursework in Criminal Justice, Paralegalism, or Psychology.
• Experience: Three years of experience in public communication within a legal setting or public agency.
• Substitution: Two years of relevant college coursework can substitute for the experience requirement.
• Key Skills: Strong report writing, interviewing techniques, and the ability to read complex legal documents.
• License: Ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license.
