Who Should Apply?
Kern County is seeking motivated individuals for Level I and Level II positions. To qualify through Government Jobz, you should meet one of the following criteria:
- Education Path: 60 semester (or 90 quarter) units of college, including at least 9 semester units in math or science. (Transcripts must be attached).
- Experience Path: High School Diploma/GED plus two years of experience as a Public Works Maintenance Worker III.
- Combined Path: An equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.
Examination & Requirements
The selection process includes a Written Exam (Weighted 100%). This exam assesses your knowledge of interviewing, problem-solving, public relations, and cultural diversity. A minimum score of 70% is required to move forward.
Additionally, some positions may require:
- A valid Class A or B California Driver’s License.
- Completion of a 40-hour Hazwoper training program within six months of hire.
