Job Overview & Duties

As part of the Forestry & Wildlife Division, you will work to preserve Hawaii’s unique ecosystems, including rainforests, wetlands, and alpine terrain. This is an advanced trainee role where you will:

• Assist in managing natural area reserves and wildlife sanctuaries.
• Implement operational plans to prevent ecosystem degradation.
• Conduct species inventories and monitor environmental trends.
• Participate in educational and scientific research projects.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify for this role on Government Jobz, candidates must meet the following:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, Botany, Zoology, or Environmental Studies.
• Experience: Relevant professional work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of appointment.
• Physical Ability: Must be able to lift/carry up to 40 lbs unassisted and 50 lbs assisted.
• Lautenberg Requirement: Must be eligible to handle firearms and ammunition (no domestic violence convictions).
