This leadership role oversees critical functions including field customer service, facility maintenance, and construction inspections.

The Position & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Water Operations Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of six staff members. This first-line supervisory role requires independent judgment to manage diverse field operations. You can find more water utility leadership roles on our main platform.

Key Duties:

  • Supervision: Plan, review, and evaluate the work of four Field Service Reps, a Maintenance Worker, and a rotating Senior Operator.
  • Operations: Oversee water meter reading, replacements, and large meter testing routes.
  • Inspections: Coordinate construction inspection activities and ensure project documentation aligns with engineering standards.
  • Compliance: Manage Underground Service Alert (USA) notifications and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Administration: Participate in budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and maintain distribution system records.

Requirements for the Ideal Candidate

To be eligible for this promotion through Government Jobz, you must be a current employee meeting these standards:

  • Experience: 5 years in water utility field service, including at least 1 year in a lead or functional direction capacity.
  • Certification: SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade D3 (must obtain D4 within one year) and T2 Water Treatment Operator.
  • Education: High school diploma plus technical training in water utility science; an Associate degree is a plus.
  • Skills: Proficiency in meter reading software, Microsoft Office, and asset management systems.
