Role & Responsibilities
As a Public Safety Officer I, you will act as a vital liaison between the community, the Norwalk Public Safety Department, and the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. This role focuses on prevention programs and community engagement.
Core Duties:
- Organize neighborhood and business watch meetings.
- Develop youth intervention and mentoring programs.
- Patrol residential/commercial areas and parks for visibility.
- Coordinate safety functions with Fire and Sheriff departments.
- Manage traffic and crowd control for parades and special events.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma plus two years of experience in public contact/presentations.
- OR an AA degree in Administration of Justice or Public Administration.
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License with a clean record.
Required Skills:
- Knowledge of basic law enforcement terminology and safety practices.
- Ability to operate radios, communication equipment, and computers.
- Skill in preparing reports and explaining city ordinances to the public.
