The Role & Responsibilities
The Associate Code Compliance Inspector performs complex analytical and field duties to enforce city regulations. This role involves both high-level dispute resolution and hands-on maintenance work to prevent neighborhood deterioration.
Key Duties Include:
- Inspections: Conducting field checks for public nuisances, zoning violations, and substandard property conditions.
- Public Relations: Mediating neighborhood disputes and representing the City at Homeowners’ Association meetings.
- Abatement: Performing graffiti removal, weed abatement, and power washing using pneumatic tools.
- Enforcement: Issuing violation notices and administrative citations; preparing evidence for court hearings.
- Special Tasks: Overseeing animal licensing/vaccinations and vehicles-for-hire inspections.
Minimum Requirements

- Certifications: Housing Quality Standards (HQS) must be obtained within one year. P.O.S.T. 832 P.C. (Powers of Arrest) is highly desirable.
