About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Deputy for County Fire, the Fire Marshal directs the Office of the Fire Marshal. You will enforce fire laws, manage code inspections, oversee special event permits, and collaborate with 19 partner agencies. Essential Duties
- Develop and coordinate fire prevention and protection programs.
- Oversee construction inspections, plan reviews, and code enforcement.
- Manage a professional team and departmental budgets.
- Serve as a liaison to the County Board of Supervisors and City Councils.
- Analyze legislation and implement fire safety adoptions.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates can qualify through two options provided by Government Jobz:
- Option I: Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science or Admin + 2 years as an Assistant/Deputy Fire Marshal or Division Chief.
- Option II: Bachelor’s degree + 5 years of experience in fire prevention/education, including 2 years of management.
- Required: California State Fire Marshal Certification and a valid CA Driver’s License.
- Desirable: P.O.S.T.-approved P.C. 832 certification.
