Noxious Weed Specialist III & IV – Oahu, Hawaii

Salary and Compensation

| Level IV (SR-22) | $5,369 – $6,535 |
Key Job Duties
- Level III: Conducts technical research, weed prevention, and eradication work. Trains lower-level staff and manages cooperative weed control projects.
- Level IV: Plans special investigations, supervises district eradication projects, and handles the full cycle of plant pest control research.
Note: These roles may require night/weekend work, inter-island travel, and the use of safety gear like respirators and protective suits.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify for these roles through Government Jobz, you must meet the following:
- Legal Authorization: Must be a US citizen, national, permanent resident, or authorized to work in the US.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Botany, Entomology, Horticulture, or related Biological Sciences.
- Experience:
- Level III: 1.5 years of experience in weed/pest control.
- Level IV: 2.5 years of progressively responsible experience.
- Physical Ability: Must lift up to 45 lbs unassisted (75 lbs assisted).
- License: Valid driver’s license required.
Important Certifications & Benefits
New hires must obtain Commercial Applicator Certification (Cat 9 & 10) by their 4th month. You will also undergo a Pulmonary Function Test for respirator fitness. These positions are eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
