Role Summary
In this role, featured on Government Jobz, you will perform essential routine maintenance on various facilities and grounds. This includes handling carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs to keep public structures safe and functional.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security systems.
- Perform basic carpentry and mechanical repairs using power tools.
- Conduct routine inspections for preventative maintenance.
- Manage inventory control and maintain accurate work records.
- Perform janitorial duties and groundskeeping as required.
- Comply with all North Slope Borough safety standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
To qualify for this position through Government Jobz, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or 12 years of combined education/work experience.
- Experience: At least 2 years of combined experience in carpentry, mechanics, electrical, or plumbing.
- License: A valid Alaska Driver’s License.
- Background: Ability to pass a background check (FBI fingerprinting for Police Dept; State background for Health Dept).
- Health Dept Specific: Must provide documentation of being free from active pulmonary tuberculosis.
Special Rotational Requirements
If assigned to the Technical Training Center, you must obtain NSTC, CPR, First Aid, and OSHA 10-hour certifications within a 6-month probationary period. Some departments may require non-traditional schedules, including nights and weekends.
