System Controls Technician I/II/III – Vista Irrigation District

Role Overview
As a System Controls Technician found through Government Jobz, you will maintain, install, and repair instrumentation, telemetry (SCADA), and operational equipment like pumps and motors. This career path includes three levels:
- Level I (Entry): Requires 2 years of electrical/mechanical experience or a background as a System Operator II.
- Level II (Journey): Requires advanced repair skills in hydraulic and SCADA systems.
- Level III (Advanced): Involves complex design, construction, and system maintenance.
Core Responsibilities
Qualified candidates at Government Jobz will perform the following duties:
- Maintain and calibrate SCADA systems, PLCs, and flow meters.
- Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, motors, and chlorinators.
- Troubleshoot seismic devices and water quality analyzers.
- Create electrical and hydraulic schematics.
- Respond to after-hours emergencies as a Duty Officer/SCADA Operator.
- Direct emergency duty crews and ensure OSHA safety standards are met.
Requirements & Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in industrial control or water operations.
- California D2 Water Distribution Certification (or higher) required within one year.
- Valid CA Driver’s License and ability to pass a respirator fit test.
- CWEA Electrical & Instrumentation certifications are highly preferred.
Duty Officer Expectations
This role includes “Duty Officer” responsibilities on weekends and holidays. You must reside within 45 minutes of District headquarters to act as the first responder for service interruptions and emergencies.
