Key Responsibilities
- Leadership: Supervise, train, and evaluate staff, volunteers, and students.
- Program Management: Oversee diverse recreation programs across multiple facilities and monitor effectiveness.
- Community Outreach: Work with boards and agencies to promote local programs.
- Administration: Assist with budget development and enforce fiscal policies.
- Emergency Support: May be required to serve as a civil defense worker during emergencies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field. (General work experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis).
Experience: 4 years of experience in directing recreational activities. This must include 2 years at the Recreation Director III level (performing professional, varied program planning). A Master’s degree may substitute for 1 year of general experience.
Required Certifications:
• Valid Driver’s License (Type 3)
• American Red Cross First Aid Certificate
• CPR/AED Certificate (Adult, Child, and Infant)
• DPR Van Certificate (as required)
