Role Overview
The Code Enforcement Officer I is an entry-level position focused on investigating and enforcing City codes and ordinances. You will perform field inspections to address nuisance abatement, property maintenance, and zoning violations. Key Responsibilities
- Respond to complaints regarding dangerous buildings, illegal land use, and urban blight.
- Conduct neighborhood sweeps and address issues like graffiti, trash, and abandoned vehicles.

- Document violations using photos/video and issue administrative citations.

Requirements & Qualifications

- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in rule enforcement or field investigations. (30 college units can substitute for 1 year of experience).
- License: Valid California Driver’s License.
- Certifications: Must obtain PC 832 (Arrest, Search & Seizure) and either ICC or CACEO Basic Certification within 12 months of hiring.
Examination Process
