Job Duties and Responsibilities

As a Signal Maintenance Technician found via Government Jobz, you will handle the installation and repair of traffic signals, street lighting, and video systems. Key tasks include:

• Responding to malfunctions in communication and traffic systems, including 24/7 emergency calls.
• Installing and splicing overhead and underground electrical cables and wiring.
• Programming microprocessor electronics using proprietary software.
• Operating heavy equipment like aerial bucket trucks, dump trucks, and front-end loaders.
• Reading and interpreting complex electrical schematics and lighting plans.
• Assisting in snow removal operations when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Completion of a two-year program in electronics, electrical technology, or military equivalent.
• Experience: 2,000 hours of electrical trainee work OR one year of traffic signal maintenance experience.
• Certifications: Valid driver’s license (Class “B” CDL required during probation).
• Physical: Ability to pass a lift test (must lift 90 lbs) and work at various heights.
