Job Description
The Park Assistant III role involves skilled park maintenance work across MRCA-managed parks. Duties include maintenance of picnic areas, restrooms, trails, irrigation systems, landscaping, trash removal, graffiti cleanup, and installation of park facilities such as benches, signs, fencing, and irrigation systems.
Employees may work independently or as part of a crew and may assist during special events, emergency responses, and conservation activities. This position supports public access, habitat protection, and urban park development.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain park grounds, trails, and facilities
- Clean and restock restrooms
- Operate mowers, brush cutters, and power tools
- Repair irrigation systems and park infrastructure
- Assist with events and emergency response
- Provide professional public interaction and customer service
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years experience in grounds or facility maintenance
- Valid California Driver’s License
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Certifications such as Pesticide Handler, First Aid/CPR, and Forklift Operation are required or must be completed within 6 months of hire.
