Salary and Position Details

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Successful applicants will manage the following daily duties at the facility:

• Assist early childhood educators in implementing programs that support children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
• Help early childhood educators or supervisors maintain accurate records and submit written observations on children.
• Engage children in fun activities like telling stories, teaching songs, and setting up crafts.
• Guide and assist children in learning proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
• Prepare nutritious snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and quiet rest periods.
• Observe children closely for potential learning or behavioural challenges, and draft reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
• Attend staff meetings to discuss children’s unique progress and challenges.
• Keep an up-to-date knowledge of local child care licensing regulations.
• Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with co-workers and community service providers.
• Plan and preserve a secure environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of all children.

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Language: English proficiency is required.
• Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
• Experience: Prior experience is considered an asset but is not strictly mandatory.
• Required Credentials: Child Development Assistant Certificate (ECE Level 1) and a valid First Aid Certificate.
• Security & Safety Checks: Must pass a criminal record check and a medical exam.
• Physical Demands: Requires sharp attention to detail along with a active combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
• Personal Suitability: Demonstrating punctuality, dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent written communication, flexibility, interpersonal awareness, reliability, teamwork, and strong values and ethics.
