Responsibilities & Role
The Nurse Practitioner works independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Key duties include:
- Performing comprehensive health assessments and physical examinations.
- Diagnosing acute and chronic conditions and prescribing necessary medications.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (laboratory, X-rays, etc.).
- Providing health education, counseling, and disease prevention strategies.
- Collaborating with family physicians and specialists for complex care management.
- Utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for detailed patient documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and a recognized Nurse Practitioner Program.
- Licensure: Current practicing license with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (ARNNL).
- Experience: Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience (preferably in family or primary care).
- Certification: Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Legal: A valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP.
