Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice:
- Independently assess, diagnose, and treat complex musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions.
- Order diagnostic tests (imaging, blood tests) and manage appropriate patient referrals.
- Build custom patient self-management plans to aid behavioral changes and recovery.
- Utilize prescribing powers and injection therapy skills if properly certified.
- Track daily utilization statistics and collect essential Patient Satisfaction Questionnaires (PSQs).
Collaboration, Leadership & Learning:
- Work alongside a GP-based multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and coordinate with internal staff.
- Train clinical colleagues on MSK triage setups and optimize local clinical pathways.
- Drive internal clinical audits and contribute actively to quality assurance metrics.
- Continue personal progression against the HEE Roadmap to Practice and join peer review sessions.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Active HCPC and CSP registration as a qualified Physiotherapist.
- Minimum of 5 years post-graduate clinical experience with at least 3 years focused on MSK care.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the HEE Roadmap to Practice alongside the MSK Core Capabilities Framework.
- Completed Stage 1 of the HEE Roadmap and hold an active CPD portfolio covering advanced practice.
Desirable Criteria:
- MSc Level 7 module completions.
- Prior FCP or MSK triage experience within public (NHS) or private clinical sectors.
- Experience working directly in GP operations using EMIS or SystmOne tools.
- Qualified as an Independent Prescriber or certified in Injection Therapy.
Key Skills:
- Collaborative, friendly approach to establishing professional relationships within GP clinics.
- Strong communication and analytical skills to address fast-paced, changing medical settings.
- Comfortable using modern digital healthcare systems with high ethical clinical standards.
