Role Description
As a Child Support Specialist I, you will manage a caseload focused on establishing paternity and enforcing child support laws. Your duties involve interviewing parents, locating assets, evaluating financial data, and preparing cases for court hearings. This is a trainee position where you will receive in-service instruction on child support regulations and casework procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
To qualify through Government Jobz, you must meet one of the following:
- Two years of full-time clerical experience involving public interaction.
- One year of experience in debt collections or interviewing.
- One year of experience as a Child Support Assistant I or Office Assistant II.
- Completion of 60 semester (or 90 quarter) college units.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
Candidates listed on Government Jobz should possess knowledge of legal terminology, basic math, and investigative techniques. You must have the ability to handle high-stress situations, maintain confidentiality of federal tax information, and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Nature of Work & Challenges

You must be able to remain non-judgmental and follow mandatory reporting rules for child and adult abuse. A valid driver’s license and background investigation (including fingerprinting) are required.
Examination Process
