Role Description & Duties

As a Senior Accountant featured on Government Jobz, you will handle advanced professional accounting tasks, ensuring the city’s fiscal records remain accurate and compliant. This position involves supervising staff and managing complex financial reporting.

• Prepare and review financial statements and GASB compliance reports.
• Coordinate audit activities with city departments and outside agencies.
• Perform month-end and year-end fiscal closings.
• Manage general ledger controls and perform account reconciliations.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting and clerical personnel.
• Prepare quarterly investment reports and assist in budget development.

Requirements for Applicants

To qualify for this position through Government Jobz, you must meet the following education and experience standards:

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited university. (Proof of education is required at the time of a conditional offer).

Experience

At least three (3) years of experience in commercial or governmental accounting. Preference is given to candidates with at least one year of supervisory experience.
