Fingerprint Technician I/II/III
Salary: $51,963.74 – $79,672.39 Annually | Location: Tulare, CA
Role & Level Responsibilities
Technicians at the Sheriff’s Department perform critical tasks to identify individuals and process evidence. Responsibilities grow by level:
- Level I: Use AFIS/ALPS systems to store and retrieve prints, perform manual comparisons, and testify in court as an expert witness.
- Level II: Analyze complex criminal fingerprints and perform specialized chemical processing of evidence in labs or the field.
- Level III: Oversee staff work, ensure quality control, maintain the chain of custody, and resolve technical equipment issues.

Minimum Qualifications
The County offers multiple paths to qualify for these usa jobs through Government Jobz:
- Education (Level I/II): Associate’s degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or 2 years of related law enforcement experience.
- Education (Level III): Bachelor’s degree in Forensics or a related field plus 2 years of professional laboratory experience.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of fingerprint classification, basic photography, and record-keeping principles.
- License: Possession of a valid California driver’s license.
