Duties and Core Mission
Operating at a fully competent professional tier, the Geologist I independently drives complex geological investigations, environmental analyses, and field studies. Work centers heavily across solid waste networks, hazardous material locations, and petroleum leaks originating from underground storage units.
Key functions encompass deploying technical geological or hydrological expertise for corrective regional actions, assessing public health dangers, and supplying specialized technical support to the U.S. Navy Red Hill Bulk Fuel Storage Tanks Special Project. Minimum Qualification Requirements
Eligible candidates must fulfill the following technical benchmarks:
- Legal Work Authorization: Full legal right to work unrestricted within the United States (citizens, nationals, permanent resident aliens, or authorized federal statuses).
- Education: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution, majoring in geology, hydrology, or an equivalent geoscience branch.
- Specialized Experience: Three (3) years of progressive, professional-level geological or hydrological work experience. This must demonstrate proficiency in field mapping, collecting/analyzing laboratory data, ground water mechanics, stratigraphy, structural geology, and scientific report compilation.
- Alternative Educational Equivalents: Professional or paraprofessional technical field history may substitute for formal college coursework. Qualifying work must involve extensive geologic sampling, instrument calibration, data calculation, and written reports. Single-phase duties like simple sample collecting are not accepted.
- Driver’s License: Possession of an active, valid driver’s license is required at the time of official appointment.
