Duties Summary

The Human Resources Assistant III executes detailed, routine tasks of limited complexity related to processing personnel actions. Legal Authorization to Work

The State of Hawaii mandates that all public employees must be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or possess federal clearance for unrestricted domestic employment.

Experience Standards

  • General Experience: One (1) year of progressively responsible general clerical office experience.
  • Specialized Experience: One (1) year of professional office experience that directly required the knowledge and application of relevant human resources rules, regulations, program workflows, and processing procedures.

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement

Per federal law, agencies cannot hire or promote individuals who may have inmate contact if they have engaged in sexual abuse in an institutional facility; have community convictions involving forced or non-consensual sexual activity; have civil or administrative adjudications of such behavior; or have been the subject of substantiated allegations or resigned during a pending abuse investigation.

Other Mandatory Requirements

  • Background & Drug Testing: Conditional hires are subject to mandatory drug screening and an intensive background investigation at the applicant’s expense.
  • Driver’s License: Must hold a valid driver’s license at the time of official appointment.
  • Substitutions: Relevant educational or professional substitutions are permitted as defined by the comprehensive rules.
