Role & Responsibilities
Under general supervision, you will assist physicians in the application, modification, and removal of orthopedic devices and assist in complex procedures such as bone fracture reductions and external fixations.
Key Tasks:
- Apply and remove a wide variety of splints, casts, and traction devices based on physician orders.
- Evaluate and repair existing casts or soft goods to ensure patient comfort and safety.
- Assist physicians with the insertion/removal of pins and the performance of external fixations.
- Instruct patients on cast care, mobility limitations, and the use of crutches.
- Maintain sterile and aseptic techniques during clinical procedures.
- Manage supply inventory and document patient care for billing and records.
Requirements
To qualify for this position through Government Jobz, candidates must meet one of the following criteria:
- Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience working or training as an orthopedic technician.
- Education Alternative: Successful completion of a recognized Orthopedic Technician certificate program.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to stand for long periods and assist in lifting/transferring patients safely.
- License: Ability to travel to alternate locations; valid CA driver’s license required if driving.
