Salary & Relocation Perks
Lateral officers start at a higher pay scale based on experience and certification. The hourly rate ranges from $37.59 to $47.92.

Minimum Qualifications for Lateral Officers
To qualify for this Government Jobz listing, you must meet these criteria at the time of hire:
- Experience: At least 3 years of continuous, full-time service at a municipal, county, or state agency responding to 9-1-1 calls. (Must have no more than a 30-day break in service).
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Certification: Must hold or be eligible for Oregon DPSST certification. Non-Oregon certified officers must attend a 2-week Career Officer Development Academy.
- Driver’s License: Valid Oregon license (or ability to obtain by hire date) with a clean record.
- Background: Pass a comprehensive police background investigation, physical assessment, and drug screen.
- Tobacco Use: Agreement to refrain from tobacco use while on duty.
Work Schedule & Location
Officers typically work a 4/10 schedule (four 10-hour shifts). You must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must reside within 45 minutes of the station located at 300 Country Club Rd, Eugene, OR.
