About the Position

The Hayward Police Department is looking for Police Officer Trainees. No prior law enforcement experience is required! This trainee role transitions into a sworn Police Officer position after successfully completing a six-month POST-certified police academy. Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• License: Valid Class C California Driver’s License.
• Age: At least 21 years old at the time of appointment.
• Citizenship: Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Background: No felony convictions; must pass a background check, polygraph, and psychological exam.

Examination Process

• PELLETB Written Exam: Requires a T-Score of 46 or higher.
• Physical Agility Test (PAT): Includes an obstacle course, 1.5-mile run, and fence climb.
