Role Overview
The Probation Officer II at Government Jobz performs investigative and supervisory casework. This role involves managing assigned defendants, conducting risk assessments, and counseling individuals to ensure compliance with court orders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct post-sentence investigations and supervise defendants.
- Develop individualized supervision plans and make community resource referrals.
- Visit defendants at home, work, or in treatment facilities/jail.
- Maintain accurate case records and testify in court when required.
- Oversee support staff including technicians and secretaries.
- Provide transportation to care units or treatment centers.
- Manage payment records and fund distribution per court orders.
- Maintain firearm proficiency (if permitted) and manage day-to-day sanctions.
Job Environment & Physical Demands
This position requires a mix of indoor office work and field visits in high-risk areas. Candidates found through Government Jobz must be able to assess dangerous situations and physically restrain suspects if necessary. Work hours may include evenings and weekends.
Requirements & Qualifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Experience: One year of graduate study OR one year of full-time casework/counseling experience.
- Compliance: Cannot be dually employed as a peace officer or currently on parole/probation.
- License: Valid State Driver’s License with an acceptable driving history and minimum liability insurance.
- Skills: Fluent in English (written and verbal).
