Program Overview
The Morongo Valley Fire Department (MVFD) is offering a Reserve Firefighter program for Fire Academy graduates and licensed Paramedics. Key Responsibilities
- Respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and hazardous materials incidents.
- Perform fire suppression, rescue, ventilation, and salvage activities.
- Operate fire hoses, ladders, pumps, and auxiliary equipment like generators.
- Provide emergency medical care and assist Paramedics with Advanced Life Support (ALS).
- Maintain fire stations, apparatus, and equipment in top condition.
- Participate in public education and community risk reduction programs.
- Submit electronic and written incident reports and stay updated on firefighting innovations.
Minimum Qualifications

- Age: 18 years or older with a valid California Driver’s License.
- Certifications: Valid California EMT-1 or Paramedic license and CPR Certification.
- Education: Completion of a CA accredited Fire Academy (or acceptance into OJT for Paramedics).
- Physical: Successful Biddle or CPAT completion within the last 12 months.
- Commitment: Ability to work four (24-hour) shifts per month for a 2-year training period.

Candidates must pass an application review, a written entry-level exam, and an oral board examination.
