Salary Range: $73,669.82 – $110,504.73 Annually

Job Overview

The Town Planner is a key professional role at Government Jobz responsible for the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Regulations. You will manage land use, zoning, and economic development to ensure a balanced growth for the Town of Pembroke Park. This position reports directly to the Town Commission and Town Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Planning & Zoning: Manage short-term and long-range planning, including updates to the Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use maps.
  • Development Review: Assist applicants through the review process and chair the Design Review Committee (DRC).
  • Resilience & Safety: Integrate hurricane preparedness and hazard mitigation into zoning ordinances and conduct risk analyses for sea-level rise.
  • Community Rating System (CRS): Manage CRS activities to help residents secure flood insurance discounts.
  • Public Interaction: Respond to zoning inquiries and present data to the Town Council and civic groups.
  • Compliance: Review permits, certificates of use, and conduct site inspections for zoning code adherence.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of professional planning or zoning experience in the public sector.
  • An equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field.
  • AICP Certification.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Candidates applying through Government Jobz should be prepared to work in both office settings and outdoor environments (including heat, cold, and humid conditions). The role requires the ability to use computers for extended periods and occasional lifting of office supplies. Some evening or weekend work may be required for commission meetings and town events.
