About the Position
The City of Fayetteville is hiring a Transit Safety & Training Coordinator to lead safety initiatives and professional development within the Transit Department. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess safety needs and develop effective training programs.
- Conduct classes on defensive driving and vehicle operation.
- Inspect transit equipment and facilities to eliminate safety hazards.
- Administer the department’s Drug and Alcohol program per U.S. DOT rules.
- Investigate transit-related accidents and process Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Prepare safety and security reports for the FTA and National Transit Database.
- Coordinate with Human Resources for mandated employee training.

Qualifications & Licensing
- Experience: Two years in safety training, adult education, or crash investigation (Transit experience preferred).
- Education: Associate’s degree in Safety, Risk Management, Education, or a related field.
- Required Licenses: North Carolina Class B CDL (Passenger/Airbrake), DOT Medical Card, and insurability.
- Preferred Certifications: FTA Reasonable Suspicion or Drug and Alcohol Manager certification.
